one is just about ok but two is company.. :P
It all started with my desire to get out of Bangalore. I wouldn't have gone if for Mr. Shailesh would have made it to Blore last weekend. So, I started planning once I got the news. I was lto busy last week but just managed to get up a plan. We were going to B. R Hills. Billigiri Rangana*** Betta , whatever its called, I can't remember the name. I am bad at names.
We were supposed to start by 6 30am on Sat. I played a game of AOM on Fri night and didn't even bother to put an alaram. I woke up at 6 15a.m. I thought let me havea few winks beforfe I can get in to the bathroom. By thte time i woke up it was 6 40 am. I woke up Vikram and by the time we made our move from my place, it was 8am. :( I guess even gals wouldn't take so much time to get ready. We both beat them to that. :P
We took both our individual bikes and got fuel in to the tanks. We were going all right when something struck me. I went beserk and near a circle, I saw a car taking a turn. I wanted to be first. Went to beat that. I beat the car but suddenly I took a sharp turn rigth infront of the car and slowed. I would normally take the turn fast. The car hit the bike at the rear end. I juggled with th ebike and fell on top of the bike. I wasnt hurt but had a few scratches near the neck. I also hurt my left knee. I knew it was my mistake but still went ahead and gave a few words fo advice to the poor driver. I also had a few words fo advise to some chicks inside the car. :P I left all confident but how did this silly thing happen. These days I am driving rather carelessly. I am not able to guage vehicle s coming at the sides. Comign to the bike trip, we startd at 10 am.
We had a few stops before we reached Shivasamudra. Shivasamudra plan was made along the way. The falls, Gaganachukki is at its splendid best. Never seen a falls with so much water. We went down ispite of the warnign board. I guess its foolish not to head instructions. We were foolish in short!! :P I went down inspite of the pain in my legs. That tells you so much of my resolve , grit and determination. :P Just touched the falls and came back. We had some nellikai ( in kannada). I dont have the patience to search that word in English. May be they are called gooseberries. Had some cucumber too to get off the hunger. Then we reached Kollegal and had lunch.
After lunch, we started to move to B R hills. The wide roads now turnd narrow and we were passign many villages. The roads were bad with sand and mud on them and occasional pits. I was negotiataign a turn near a village beside Yalandur that I saw a Qualis come. I was goign at 20-30 kms /hour. I applied both my brakes. My front brakes are strong and the bike locked up at the front and i slid ala MotoGP style. Only difference beign i was not dressed to the occassion. I got up and the first thign i saw was blood hittign the ground. I was hurt in the elbow. I clinched my elbow and saw there was no blood comig out of the elbow. It was likea hole that has been punched in to the elbow. The blood was actualy comign form my palms. Some stones had got embedded deep inside the palms. I managed to stop the engine. Some villagers gathered and took me to a nearby hut. I washed my own wound with water and removed unwanted stones and mud of the wound with my hands. I am the next Rambo. Holllywood , are you readign this? :) One of the villagers escorted me, Virkam and Harshad to the nearby doc. The private doc was nowhre to be seen. Then, some more people advised me to the govt clinic. I wanted t go to a PHC itself. I am very much for a Govt hospital and I think these are the very instances govt. shoudl be lauded for its efforts to put money in to the health secotor. Am i beign too self centred? Yes I am. But, i think these PHC and PHU are helpful to the village community. But for them , i am able to use my left arm. There was no doctor in teh PHC and the compounder dressed my wound. I asked for a anti- tetanus shot. It was out of stock. He said he will give pain killers. Liek a hero I said forget it. I can with stand the pain. It was a grave mistake. He was ready to give me an analgesic injection . I went to give him money and he declined. May be he was a trifle shy to take it in the open or he might be an honest guy. Though I was in pain, I just started my bike and went ahead with our journey.
We reached B R Hills at around 6 pm. We started scouting for a place to spend the night. Its better advised to book the PWD inspection bungalow or the forest department Inspection Bungalow. The forest department IB is at a picturesque location.
We got 3 rooms thanks to my wound. We went to the temple. The cloud was on us and there was drizzle and the whole area was misty. After visiting the temple, we had dinner. We ate only dosas. Mysefl n Vikram went back to sleep while the other went for a walk. The pain was becoming a nuisance. I was keeping my cool even though i was gettin irritated by the minute. I went and hit the bed. There was no mattresss and the cot made of wood was hard. I managed to get a few winks. *Vikram says I was snorign loudly like a Lion.. do they snore? ;)*
We got up early morn by 6 30 am and went for a walk excedpt Vikram teh laziest guy in the group. We also had a lot fo snaps. Harshad n Rohit being the two phtographers grapping with the equipment and talking aperture, over expoure, underexposed etc. Man, exposure shoudl be totally banned or heard after 11pm. :P It was a nice walk aroudn the lake. We came back and got ourselves ready to return back. Whie retuirnign We stopped by at Kollegal. I got my anti tetanus shots and also got osme pain killers and anit biotics . After that just before Malavalli, Harshad had a flat tyre. We had no idea how to remove the wheel. With great difficult we removed it and then both Vikram and Harshad went to get it fixed. They took a full 1 hour and I took a short nap coz I was feeling the pain and also a lil sleepy thanks to the medicine. They got the wheel back and the most difficult part was fixign the wheel. Whil ei worked with just one hand, both Vikram and Harshad had 2 each. We managed to put the wheel in place and readched Malavalli by 5pm. By that time, Rohit n Ram had already left for Bangalore. We asked them to continue as we were terribly hungry,. We hadnt had any lunch. We had dosas again. We finally reached Blore by 9pm. Eventful journey overall. I came back with a bruised arm with a couple of cracks in the bone.
Moral of the journey: Never ever use front brakes on village roads that are badly asphalted.
